it appears to have been designed to skim over the surface of the water, stitching in its flight the elements of earth and air and water

the more it leapt the more powerful the magic

the piercing would have allowed the votive to be worn as a talisman between one sacred water course and another as the wearer waited for the perfect moment to make a wish and release the stone
